Learning to deal with the constant pain from a failed back and what you may be able to do about it. From my experiences and what I have learned from reading talking with my doctors and other sources. I believe that the tablets you have to take and deal with is nearly as terrible as the injury itself. You are looking for relief from the pain but you don’t want to get caught up in the addiction and terrible side things that come along with these types of medicines.
When you have a back injury the tablets you take can range from Tylenol to some of the strongest pain relievers on the market. Anti-inflammatory are used to help with inflammation also seizure medicine are used to help with nerve pain. If you are experiencing depression you may need to take medicine or talk with someone for this also. Don’t let the embarrassment or your ego stop you from talking with or being paid help with depression this is a very real conundrum with recurring pain. I know that my pride got in my way when it came time to talk to a psychologist.
You need to discuss this thoroughly with your doctor so that you know the consequences you are looking for and the side things? A lot of these stronger medications are habit forming. They can also cause constipation, and nausea. Discuss this with your doctor on how you can minimize these side things and steps to take if this becomes a conundrum. One of the best ways to preclude the constipation is to drink a lot of water and try to eat a lot of fiber in your diet. I find that eating a excellent whole grain cereal can really help.
My experience has been that the doctor can place you on a contingent of tablets that will help relieve your symptoms like if they were treating any other recurring illness. One huge conundrum is we will wait to take the pain tablets until the pain is unbearable since we are trying to not become addicted. The conundrum is that once the pain gets to that point no matter how much tablets you take you doubtless will not get the relief you need. This is where you will take more pain medicine and you start to build a resistance to the drug. If you are taking more than five vicodin a day you are building resistance. So talk with your pain management specialist to see if they can come up with a way to deal with all your symptoms with different tablets rather than just more pain tablets.
One of the experiences I had with not consequential there were medications that can help with different symptoms. Was when the Surgeons had told me that there was no more they could do with surgery and that he was going to send me to a pain management specialist? My appreciative of them and what I had heard from other patients was they would place me on some stronger narcotics and send me on my way to deal with the pain the best I could. When I went to the pain management specialist there were some test that he did and we found out that the reason I was on foot holding the wall when it was dark was that I had lost sensation in my feet. Which I had know thought that it had anything to do with the injury this is just one case where this kind of symptom develops over a long period of time and you don’t realizes that it is really experience until someone points it out to you. Then he told me there were amalgamation of tablets that he could use that would help with these symptoms and pain and there was no real bring up of pain tablets other than what I had already been taking.
You may have nerve pain or muscle cramps you may not be being paid enough rest. There are medicines to help relieve all of these symptoms, a lot of times they are not pain relievers, and they don’t have the side things. The doctor may know of alternative programs that may help you to relieve some of this pain also. Like deep breathing exercises, biofeedback, meditation, massages and exercise programs. If you are on the dead end path of painkillers try to get in touch with a pain management specialist to see if you and him or her can come up with a different approach.
