Can Diverticulitis Cause Back Pain?
Diverticulitis is said to cause back pain. Is this possible and is back pain an actual standard symptom for this malfunction in the digestive system? Basically, diverticulitis is an inflammation of a pouch in the colon called diverticulosis, where, when infected, may cause malfunctions in our large intestine and our digestive process. When it occurs that one or more pouches are inflamed or infected, it causes severe abdominal pain, fever and nausea. Also, there is an abnormality in the bowel movement, such as constipation or diarrhea, bloating and cramping.
Online resources do not enumerate lower back pain as a standard symptom for diverticulitis but many of the patients who have suffered from diverticulitis complain of having so. Logically, there is a correlation between Diverticulitis and lower back pain. Most of the problems in the digestive tract may cause back pain sometime or another because when we feel abdominal pain, which is the foremost symptoms of any digestive disease, the pain usually localizes to the back.

Back pains are usually much more serious that we think they are. Diverticulitis or not, one should consider consulting a doctor when severe back pain is recurrent.
