Exercises To Strengthen The Lower Back - Lower Left Side Back Pain

With the stressful activities that people have everyday, it is inevitable that their bodies take the toll for such overexertion. Back pain is one condition that can’t be ignored. A lot of people experience discomfort in doing their daily tasks because of back pain.

Milder cases of lower back pain may be treated with medications. Some doctors prescribe painkiller for patients, and these painkillers provide temporary relief. However, there are doctors who prefer not to prescribe painkillers, because they do not provide long-term relief, and may also make the patient prone to addiction.

In more serious cases of low back pain, surgery is an option to correct the condition. While this helps the patient big time, not everyone with back pain is willing to undergo surgery.

Fortunately, there are other ways to get rid of back pain, and that is by getting exercise. There are several low back strengthening exercises that provide comfort to the patient. It is important to strengthen the lower back, because a strong core allows a person to do his or her daily tasks with ease. A strong core also allows a person to have good posture.

Among those exercises is the wall squat. This exercise strengthens the back, as well as the legs and hips. To do this, one must stand with his back against a wall. With the heels at an 18-inch distance from the wall, one must slide down while bending the knees.

The position is held for five counts. Other people perform leg lifts to strengthen their lower backs. While lying on one’s back, one leg is bent while the foot is flat on the floor. The other leg is raised, and the position is held for three counts.

These exercises target the core muscles, thus giving support to the spine.
