Hip and Lower Back Pain - Lower Back Pain Right Side
One of the most common pain complaints is hip and lower back pain. Experienced by old and young people alike, pain in the hip and lower back pain can impair daily activities. Hip and lower back pain can either be acute, subacute, or chronic. The symptoms usually go away two to three months after but may return after several months. Hip and lower back pain may be caused by aging, trauma to the area, or an illness. There may be damage to the muscles, ligaments, or tendons in the area, depending on the causative agent and extent of the damage to the area. If the cause is aging, the vertebrae becomes weak due to osteoporosis thus giving less support to the back and hip muscles causing the pain. Fractures to the vertebra may also occur.
Injury to the area such as falling from the stairs of vehicular accidents is also a common reason for hip and lower back pains. Fractures, pulled muscles, torn ligaments, or bruises to the injured area gives rise to the pain. Chronic lower back pain or hip pain may have a much more dangerous causative agent. Osteoarthritis is inflammation of the joints and causes a great deal of pain and discomfort.
A slip disc - a condition where in one of the vertebra is not aligned with the rest of the spine, may also be a cause of hip and lower back pain. Sometimes, cancer of the bone (osteosarcoma) is also a cause for hip and lower back pain. Hip and lower back pain is not a definitive sign for a specific illness or problem because it may be caused by a number of reasons. Pain in the area is not easy to pinpoint; therefore a correct diagnosis can be hard to make. Whatever the cause may be, hip and lower back pain is a general complain among today's people. The differences in treatment and outcome will depend on the causative agent and the compliance to the treatment.
